Concept of family homestead law is being developed in Belarus, said Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy after reception of citizens in the Council of Ministers, BelTA correspondent reports.

Deputy Prime Minister said that concept of family homestead law is in a high degree of readiness, the working group was established, which considers this question. “In general, concept is developed, now we clarify some specific points. In particular, we discuss the question of how much land to allocate to such of the homestead,” he explained.

Natalia Stekolnikova raised this topic. She is a representative of one of the largest settlements — Rosy (Dew) Family Homestead Settlement in Volozhin district. Now more than 50 families live in this settlement. Natalia came to the reception to the Deputy Prime Minister with the proposals for the draft law. “We participated in the development of the concept of family homestead law, worked on it for many years. Now the concept is being finalized. We see potential in the village development through such experience. This law is necessary in order to land will forever remain for children, grandchildren and future generations of the family that founded the homestead. The main postulate — the land should be transferred to possession, cannot be sold under any circumstances and can only be inherited, Natalia Stekolnikova explained. In her opinion, it is necessary to allocate not less than 1 hectare of land for such homesteads.

Mikhail Rusy drew attention to the fact that it is very important people come to the reception of citizens on issues such as family homesteads. “People want to put in order the empty villages, unique places, to develop ecotourism, green tourism, healthy way of life, and this is a contribution to the future development of the country. Moreover, the representatives of these homesteads — trained people with the knowledge of legal basis, they seriously help us,” he stated. Now in Belarus there are more than 570 people who consider themselves owners of these family homesteads. Especially a lot of citizens in the Volozhin and Vitebsk areas.

Four questions were considered during Deputy Prime Minister appointment. “Another one concerned subsidiary farms of citizens. A businessman from Lyuban has good suggestions how to do it so the peasants, having grown products on his homestead, could quickly sell them. Belkoopsoyuz (Belarusian Republican Union of Consumer Societies) already made significant steps in this direction, in addition, the entrepreneurs also engaged in this,” Mikhail Rusy said.

Another two questions concerned private housing. Deputy Prime Minister instructed the appropriate departments to understand the situations and come to some decision. “I think it is very good to have the opportunity to study the questions of the citizens who signed up for an appointment with us in advance. So we can prepare, to learn, to consult with specialists. It is necessary in order to ensure that every person has received a concrete answer to the question,” he concluded.
