The time of winter has arrived. Lubodar is covered with snow. The domains plunged into a winter fairy-tale sleep, dimming the brightness of their colours until next spring.

That is why in winter, the outlines of crowns, the graphics of branches, the color and texture of the bark of trees and shrubs become of great importance in garden design. Not the least important place in winter compositions is occupied by massive single stones and various types of rockeries, which during the leafless season help to compensate for the lack of perennials in flower beds and add variety to the sparse landscape during this time.



Besides, every year I am more and more convinced that the most successful mulch is a large stone. It will protect you from weeds, add emphasis to the composition, and give the flowerbed a finished look. The main thing is that it will serve as a border! You no longer need to take sedatives when your husband starts creeping up to your mixed border with the intended purpose of mowing it down. Now he definitely won’t mow down reed grass or molina, which are now under the protection of boulders.



Stones are interesting not only for their dimensions, shapes and curves, but also for their color combinations and textures, which often depend on the composition of the rocks from which they are made.

I am most attracted to granite stones. They are strong, durable and very picturesque. But, if you need to build something large-scale that requires a large volume of building materials, for example - a retaining wall or a rock garden, then limestone is quite acceptable and affordable.



Limestone rocks are not as durable as granite or other igneous rocks, but they have a beneficial effect on plants planted in close proximity to them. In addition to the fact that they retain moisture in the soil and provide air to plant roots, limestone also reduces the acidity of our soils.

In general, a large stone is in itself a decorative element, like a sculpture. It has some special aesthetics and attractiveness. Some of them you even want to touch and stroke with your hands. After all, they say that stones are also alive.



Sometimes you sit like this, look at some boulder, look at its curves, chips, and you can’t help but think: how old is it? Where is it from? What has it seen in its lifetime? Or do you think: how does it live now? Here on our domain?

In general, it is solid philosophy! And guess what? It develops imagination and mental flexibility. Again, it stimulates the development of creative abilities.



A stone can also become a talisman for your Kin Domain. Fill it with your energy, share with it your warm feelings and cherished dreams. In addition to solving aesthetic problems, it will emit positive vibrations and maintain the bioenergy of your space. I really love stone in garden design.
