Children of the Karavaev family take care of their little pieces of land in the kin domain 24.08.2020 17:38:22

We are developing our kin domain in the Settlement of Kin Domains “Radosvet”, Sverdlovsk region.
Last fall, we gave small pieces of land (one hundred square meters) to each of our daughters. We gave it to them to develop their gardening experience and so that they own their own inviolable land. We could not even imagine that they would start implementing their ideas so quickly.



First, they made lists of plants: flowers, berries, various shrubs for green living hedges. We went to a nursery, they walked around it with a very important look on their faces, they chose all the seedlings and bought everything themselves, and were asking the sellers about all the details. We have sworn that we would not tell them how to do it better or advise them what is best, so that they would see themselves, analyze and reflect.

Last fall, they planted the first green hedge, each making an entrance to the site where they thought was right. Only then, we realized that each of them was very right about it with regard to their site. After the first plantings, their lists grew significantly, new ideas and plans appeared.





This spring, all together we planted willows – the “living houses” for them on a separate site that we previously reserved for that (0.5 acres) between their sites. The houses are planted in half circles, and they both have the entrances each on their side. Now these young creators are planning to make ponds and plant other green hedges around the perimeter. They bought special arches for the entrances, and they are planning to cover them with climbing plants.





We were amazed that the children really absorb everything that we do, and accept it with much joy. We are very glad that they create their own rooms that they designed themselves, in which roses are already blooming.



The girls decided to shoot videos to share their thoughts and delight.

- Children are a miracle. You live wondering what children think. Sometimes you ask them questions, but they don't really say much. But when you start filming them, they become so serious. They begin to reveal their thoughts. Some of their thoughts are very surprising and make you realize that, after all, we teach children more with our actions and deeds than with words. When building a kin domain, we always keep thinking whether we will have enough time before they grow up to give them a new way of life, and whether they will be able to take the best from it...
