According to our 4 years (just as long as we live on our land) experience of planting trees, we can highlight the key moments of planting a new tree on the site
Over the years, we have planted more than 300 trees and shrubs, fruit, ornamental, forest, coniferous. Maybe not so much, but enough to draw some conclusions.



What we do pay attention to.

1. What care is required for the plant.
No, not so, DOES the plant NEED care?
After all, each climate zone has its own species of trees that you just have to plant, and they grow for many years by themselves:
- birches, pines, oaks - in Central Russia,
- we have ash, acacia, sagebrush, elm, some species of maple, sumac, elderberry and other drought-resistant species.

So, if the plant does not require special attention, plant it wherever you want, at least on the edge of the land.



If the plant needs attention, we plant it where we can see it often. Therefore, we will remember it. To water in time, cut. Peaches, for example, we plant in close proximity to our usual daily route around the estate.

If the plant needs shelter for the winter in our area, like figs, we plant it near the house, and preferably near the walls of the house, so we will additionally protect it from the wind, and never forget about it before the frosts and with the beginning of spring.

2. Consider the size of future adult trees. His "appetite" to the sun.
Every tree planted with your own hands is like a child. You think about it, you worry about it, you wish it good and health. Moreover, if you have to cut down once a small tree, planted too densely from another, but already preventing it from developing normally, the hand trembles. I probably cannot!



3. Choose a place for the seedling in advance, before it appears in our hands.
It is very useful to get in the habit, this way you can avoid chaos on the site, and not to bother the plant with transplants.

Moreover, when we know exactly where we will plant, we approach planting with ease and certainty. There is a goal, it has already been defined and considered - it only needs to be done physically.

The most unfortunate option is to collect a bunch of seedlings, and then go and push them wherever you have a place. Sometimes we have little pleasure from the process.

However, there are always exceptions to every rule.
If you have been living on your site for a long time and you feel it, it may happen that you already come to the planned planting place with a shovel and a plant in your hands, and suddenly you understand why this place is not suitable, and another one is. We have something like this, not often, but it happens.

4. Before you finally make the decision of place for the plant, consult with your family.
More than once it changed our plans, because another person, also living on the same estate, has his own vision or feeling, and sometimes it is really more correct.

After planting on a permanent place, we always remember the need to carefully indicate that "now here lives an apple tree", for example. We abundantly mulch the landing site and stone the free circle. In addition, we tie a tape to a trunk. We do it for others and for ourselves too.



It happened that unmarked young seedlings in one thin trunk, planted in the fall, were mowed in the spring. This is sad. Now we mark all our plants.
