The first theater season has closed in Lubodar 04.11.2024 21:12:05

We closed our first theater season with the children's play 'The Cat's House.' This season can confidently be called 'Overcoming.' We have realized that this work is necessary, interesting and brings the team together.

The performance itself turned out to be fun and educational. It seemed like a simple story, but it carries many meanings. During rehearsals, the kids discussed why the Cat's house caught fire and concluded that she was careless with matches. The director incorporated this episode into the beginning of the play and added a story with sparks, where the children held sticks to depict how the flames licked the walls of the house.

Somehow, the roles naturally distributed themselves: Varya was the Cat, Vasilisa was the Hen, Yarik was the Frog and Svetik was the Rooster. The only one missing was the Dog. It's a small role, but still meaningful. 'But the dog just barks and doesn't help anyone.' Adults might think the dog has a bad character, but the kids know that a dog is a friend. It doesn’t help because it’s tied to the kennel and has to guard the house. Then the director had a revelation: this role could be played by a real dog! Especially since she actually has a big, kind and very sensitive dog.

During the performance, the dog barked very softly so as not to scare the youngest audience member, who was sitting in his mother’s arms nearby.

Another unconventional solution was suggested by Yaroslav when he told the actress playing the Cat: 'Meow 'fire' in a cat-like way.' I also want to highlight Vasilisa's wisdom, which truly justified her name. Upon learning that her younger sister wanted to play the role of the Cat, she generously swapped roles with her.

And so, step by step, the performance took shape, adding new details that the children continuously suggested. The director's task was simply to listen and weave these ideas into the fabric of the play. It was a very interesting and mutually enriching process!
