The heart of our house and bathhouse is the stoves 07.04.2025 16:35:53

I want to say that the heart of our house and bathhouse is the stoves. Yes, yes, we still heat with firewood.

When we first acquired our plot, it was a barren field—no water, electricity, or gas (although we still don’t have gas). At first, we were fully independent: electricity from solar panels, we drilled a well on the property, and the heat in the house came from a stove that needed to be heated with firewood. We have three stoves in total: two in the house and one in the bathhouse. By the way, a bathhouse with a real stove can never compare to any other type, and true connoisseurs and lovers of baths understand this immediately.

Of course, this type of heating has a number of drawbacks:
- Firewood needs to be prepared/bought, dried, stacked, and it always leaves debris in the house,
- The stove needs to be stoked, unfortunately, you can't just press a button.

But there are also a number of advantages:
- You decide when you need heat and create it yourself, rather than waiting for the utilities,
- Stoking the stove can be used as a household responsibility for children. Domestic chores are the best educators (for example, our son has been handling this himself since he was 10; we just help and remind him). The heat from the stove is not as drying as from a radiator.

But the most important thing is the atmosphere that real daily fire creates in the home—the crackling of firewood, the flicker of flames, the sense that nature itself is with you and for you: the air fuels the fire, the clay reliably holds the bricks, and the fire itself warms you both from the outside and from within. Fierce and commanding, it gives you a piece of its heat so that, warmed, you can then warm someone else.

And, despite the fact that we now have some electric heating, the stoves rightfully hold their place: if you listen closely, you can hear the heartbeat of our house in them.
